Notes on Space. Monumental Painting in Estonia 1947-2012

The book is compiled and edited by Tõnis Saadoja, Paul Kuimet, Gregor Taul, Aliina Astrova, Eero Epner, Indrek Sirkel and it shows the process of the painting and an overview of monumental painting in Estonia.
Notes on Space. Photos by Paul Kuimet was an exhibition of selected photographs from the section of catalogued monumental paintings in Estonia from the book Notes on Space. Tõnis Saadoja’s Ceiling Painting in Theatre NO99. Estonian Monumental Painting 1879–2012. For the exhibition the photographed pieces were divided into 4 chapters, each occupying a single wall of the space. This 'project room' of the museum is surrounded by the display of the museum's collection from the period that could also be considered the heyday of monumental art, a genre that despite it's prominency during the Soviet era was never properly documented or chronicled. This 'unofficial' part of the art history was thus finally exhibited next to what could be considered the official art history.
