Breakthrough. 20 Artists on the Album that Changed Everything - Cover

Breakthrough. 20 Artists on the Album that Changed Everything

Breakthrough is a series of 20 interviews with international artists, primarily electronic musicians and producers (from Laraaji to Plastikman, including Tricky, Morton Subotnick, Max Richter, Pole, and William Basinski), about the album that changed the course of their career. From idea to production to release, each interview covers the story of an iconic piece of music, and its impact on the artist, the genre, and the industry itself. This series is a tool for music makers, producers, and DJs, but it is also a deep dive into the creative act, and a meditation on art making.
Emma Robertson is a Canadian music journalist and editor based in Berlin. She is the executive editor of online pop culture magazine The Talks, as well as the creator and host of AIR, an interview podcast series featuring figures from electronic music and beyond. A regular contributor to publications like LOLA Magazine, Borshch Magazine, and the now-defunct RedBull Music Academy, you can also find her work on platforms like Resident Advisor, and Refuge Worldwide.

Interviews with Laraaji, Plastikman, Moby, A Guy Called Gerald, Octo Octa, Call Super, Flying Lotus, Peaches, Suzanne Ciani, Tricky, Donato Dozzy, Ana Roxanne, Huerco S., Junior Boys, Jlin, Morton Subotnick, E-Dancer, Max Richter, Pole, William Basinski.
