Cedric Price Works 1958 - 2003. A Forward-Minded Retrospective

Published in two volumes, and in conjunction
with the Canadian Centre for Architecture
(CCA), Montreal, this forthcoming publication
will bring together for the first time all of the
projects (volume one) and writings (volume two)
by British architect Cedric Price (1934–2003).
A chronological arrangement will place the work
in the context of the immediate postwar period
in England in which Price grew up, illuminating
how cultural, social and political factors
conditioned the work from the outset, and then
subsequently shaped its development as his
practice changed throughout the 1960s, 70s,
80s and 90s. Full project descriptions will be
set alongside a careful selection of illustrations,
many previously unpublished – from conceptual
sketches through to presentation drawings and
related artefacts. The content material is drawn
directly from the original work, now largely held
in the Cedric Price Fonds at the CCA, as well
as a few private collections – the culmination of
ten years of study by author/editor Samantha
Hardingham. The books aim to present the
munificence of Price: thinker, philosopher,
artist and unparalleled raconteur
