The City at the End of the Underground

This book by Adriano Maccone and Alessandro Martinelli concerns the image of the city at the terminal stations of various underground mass-transit systems in Europe and the Far East. With the objective of documenting and understanding what constitutes the margin of the urban phenomenon in an age of globalization and urbanization, the book collects and complements a selection of materials from a photographic project that has been developed by Adriano Maccone over a number of years.
Offering the possibility for comparative perspectives and some theoretical insights at the intersection of photography and the City, the book finally hopes to contribute from a global perspective to the awareness of the complex relations between the city, urban space, and urban design.
