Claire Fontaine ist eine "kollektive Künstlerin", die 2004 aus dem Bedürfnis entstanden ist, einen Freiraum für eine sowohl visuelle als auch theoretische Auseinandersetzung mit in der Kunstwelt weitgehend vermiedenen Inhalten zu schaffen. Die Publikation verbindet Ansichten von fünf Ausstellungen von Claire Fontaine aus den letzten beiden Jahren in Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien und USA. Jede Ausstellung basierte auf der ortsspezifischen Installation "Newsfloor", die im Buch einen sowohl wechselnden als auch kontinuierlichen Hintergrund bildet auf dem andere Arbeiten in verschiedenen Blickwinkeln und Kontexten wiederkehren.
Claire Fontaine is a "collective artist" born in 2004 out of the desire of sharing a space of freedom, tackling by visual and theoretical means subject matters largely avoided in the art world. This publication connects images from five recent exhibitions by Claire Fontaine in France, Germany, Italy, and the United States. All projects were centered around the sitespecific installation "Newsfloor", that in the book forms a changing but also continuous background for artworks to appear and re-appear in various situations and contexts.
