Radical Film, Art and Digital Media for Societies in Turmoil

Book Launch with Ursula Böckler, Julia Lazarus, Alexandra Weltz-Rombach et al

Can radical film practices help to understand a disintegrating world? Can they have a healing effect? How can we maintain structures of solidarity in the field of radical media production for societies in turmoil and transition? And what does radical cultural practice look like, when acute challenges seem to lurk everywhere we look? Edited by members of the Berlin chapter of the Radical Film Network, this collection investigates practices of audio-visual production that act on and struggle with the conditions of our time.

The Radical Film Network was founded in 2013 when a group of activists, academics, filmmakers and programmers involved in radical film culture met to discuss the ways in which they could work together to support its development, growth and sustainability. Since then, the RFN has grown rapidly, and now consists of more than two hundred organisations from forty countries around the world.
